Indeed it's a balance of learning from the past, making the most of the present and having faith and hope for the future. I really appreciate what Katie Spotz wrote during her trek across the Atlantic: "During an interview, when asked what I think about while rowing, although my mind wanders here and there, for a large part of the journey I felt present; there’s no need to think beyond the moment." Nice post, Erik. Rarely do things turn out exactly the way we plan… I guess the trick is hoping things turn out better than expected more often than not.

Yoda, like Frost, is wise.

And by the way, this was more self reflection than pity and it really does drive me crazy when I think about all the alternatives, the could be’s, the what if’s.

I came across this poem (only once before in my life had I read it) and it occurred to me that it is probably underrated.

All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things.
