Musical Baton

May 16, 2005

John Oxton passed the musical baton to me so here goes nothing;

Total volume of music files on my computer

Nearing close to 9-10GB on my work computer and about 30GB on my home computer. My tastes in music vary so I’ve got everything from orchestral to alternative with a wee bit of classical mixed in.

The last CD I bought was

The last CD I bought was the Men in Black soundtrack (for $1.00 from ebgames). What can I say? I’m a sucker for orchestral / movie soundtracks, notably anything by Danny Elfman.

Song playing right now

Bring Your Lovin’ Back Here by Gomez. Thanks goes out to Molly for tuning me in and getting me hooked.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me

  • Run — Collective Soul
  • Iris — Goo Goo Dolls
  • Banana Pancakes — Jack Johnson
  • Someone Else’s Arms — Mae
  • Fake Plastic Trees — Radiohead

Five Six people who will be passed the baton:

Erik Sagen, the mastermind behind Kartooner has passed me the musical baton, so… Total volume of music files on my computer My main machine at home has about 26GB, and thanks to Ian and his wonderful library, I have another 12GB on an external drive I used to carry back and forth to work. I

Is it cool if I run one of those people down and steal the baton, because I’m really T.O.‘d that I didn’t the baton!

I like your selections. I’ll have to check out Gomez. By the way, it took me a day (because I’m sloooow), but I ran with the baton this morning. Thanks for the pass.

I’m a fat, clumsy oaf. That rules me out for carrying batons, I think.

I’m a big fan of soundtracks too. The MIB was a steal, way to go. I’ve got all the Star Wars soundtracks, including the special edition CD sets with the fancy embossed slip case. I’m such a geek.

Donnie, I didn’t get it either. I went for a run this morning without a baton. What a let down. :-)

Wow, might that be mae as in the christian band on the Tooth and Nail label!? cooool. I went to see them a few days ago. Embers and envelopes is their best. (~I’m not religious!)

Greg: I think you’ll enjoy Gomez. They have that Brit pop / garage band feel to them.

Simon: I had to bend the rules initially to fit in one more person. Next time, if I receive one of these memes I’ll include you in the fun.

Mike: Some of my favorite movie soundtrack (orchestral) composers include: Danny Elfman, James Horner, John Williams and Rachel Portman, amongst a slew of others.

Andrew: Christian band? Well, I suppose so and that would make sense.

I ran with it and passed it on! Enjoy.

Tooth and Nail records has some great bands. Hawk Nelson, Thousand Foot Krutch. Good stuff.
