Oh, the coolness will be awesome.

Spam-free and loving it

nospam04.gifLiterally only after one week of signing up with knowspam I’ve noticed that my inbox has been breathing better unlike its previous polluted self.

Before signing up with a spam service my inbox resembled that of a 70-year-old chain smoker with tarred gums and a scratchy voice.

knowspam reports that it has blocked (since roughly April 9th) over 76,000 spam-related emails. Granted I’m no Lance Arthur but that to me is a substantial amount of spam in such a short time frame.

Something that I am at fault for considering my incessant need to sign up for a variety of email services in the early 2000’s and providing said service with my main email instead of a Hotmail box.

My own fault for cluttering my inbox with viagra and marketing announcements which before knowspam I had to wade through–picking out the legitimate from the supposititious emails.

Enough to the point where I was considering hiring a government agency to sift through my emails but tossed out the idea in favor of a service that would do that for me.

77,909 spams later and counting I feel like email has a fighting chance.

  1. My email inbox looks a lot like yours. I get 80 pieces of junk for every real email, worse on weekends. However, I can’t bring myself to sign up with any spam service that works on challenge/response. I don’t want to miss a piece of real email because the person couldn’t or wouldn’t jump through the hoops.

  2. I’ve had a good success rate so far.

Anyone that feels the need to email me that isn’t already on my ‘Good Senders’ list has taken the simple “Are you a human?” test and added themselves to the legitimate senders list.

Those that I’ve set up on my legitimate list prior add up to about 20 or so senders. These include family, friends and email lists. I’ve attempted to cover all bases but realize that I might have missed someone. If that’s the case I’m confident that they would take the test to prevent themselves from being shut out.

To each his own, right? I was just tired of the massive amounts of spam and having an unbalanced ratio of spam to email wears you down.

  3. Good to know that, Erik. I had heard about KnowSpam before but it is much better to hear a testimonial of someone like me about how damn good it is.

Looks like best $20/year you can spend on.

In my case, what’s getting on me these days is mail viruses. Tons of them. I have strong antivirus settings and all, but it is getting to the point of being unbearable. I think I’m going for the free trial.

  4. I had to sign the “I’m Human” form…does this mean you don’t love me? That hurts.

  5. I’m glad to hear it Beto. Honestly, in less than 2 weeks knowspam.net has blocked over 100,000 spam emails.

When my trial runs its course I’m going to pay my 20 bucks and remain spam free. I could have just as easily changed my email address and informed those around me, but I like my email address.

Good luck with the trial. I’m sure you’ll be amazed at the outcome. Especially if your inbox as been as cluttered as mine.
