Parking in a Football Field
Everytime I go anywhere with anyone when it comes to parking at a public place I always choose to park as far out as possible. Why? This way, unlike everyone else, when there are no spots up front I’ll always be satisfied with something further back. I’ve had these discussion with my brother, brother-in-law and my wife. It always begins with, “Why?” and ends with “Why not a parking spot in the front, it’s closer to the sidewalk?”
My reply is always the same:
“Frankly, I feel that everyone has to rush to find that parking spot in the front. They spend several minutes circling the lot like vultures looking for the best spot to glide into, huddle out of their vehicles and enter the facility. Why spend 10 minutes looking for a spot in the very front when you can just as easily park in the back regardless if it seems like a football field away. In the time it would take you otherwise to find a spot up front, you could be parked and walking to Target and be in the store.”
The conversation will sometimes end with, “Oh. Yeah. I guess you’re right.”
People, this isn’t Rocko’s Modern Life here. Find a spot and park, even if it’s not in the fire lane or in the loading area.

You’re right, it does make sense. Besides, the fact that most Americans are anything but slim it does anyone good to walk off the pounds.
Americans are lazy. But, this is an observation from a Brit.
